Another Miserable Campaign

Well, it's that time of year again and for the second year in a row it seems as if the Hurricanes will be scratching and clawing to get into a Bowl. But unlike last season I don't see the 5-6 'Canes going bowling. Last year it was the MPC Bowl where they faced Nevada and nearly lost in Larry Coker's last game.

Expectations were of a bowl-bound Miami sqauad in this Randy Shannon's first effort but barring a victory over Boston College in the final game the Canes will be bowl-less for the first time in a decade. Shannon has the task much like Butch Davis did: Cleaning up someone elses mess, and restoring a good image to the program.

What scares me about this rebuilding effort is that although Shannon is young, black and played (and won) in the program which will help in recruiting (an area that coker failed miserably at) he's a defensive-minded man in a program which NEEDS offensive help.
Looking toward next season much of the same can be expected from the Hurricanes unfortunately. It will be interesting to see how this program responds once Shannon has a chance to bring his own recruits in.
