Where do I begin, really? Do I start with the 'next best thing' QB that gets suspended before his first snap? OR with the move from a hallowed ground of college football into a multipurpose sports cavern miles from campus? Or should i just dive right into the 400+ rushing yards allowed on national TV on freakin' ESPN?
That in a brief nutshell is what I put up with from September to December with the Miami Hurricanes. Seven years ago this team put a world-class beat-down on Nebraska in the Rose Bowl for a BCS National Championship (They took the A.P Poll as well) they had THE NFL draft factory of North America and were on the short-list of College Dynasties of all time.
Fast-forward now and what we have left is a young group of inexperienced kids thrown to the wolves, and a leader who; well. Doesn't lead very well. Case in point was late in the Emerald Bowl when UM was driving late the 'Canes put on the WORST display of 2-minute drill in the history of American football. And what was Randy Shannon doing? Watching; not coaching, not with a headset on giving orders...He was WATCHING. A bystandard like everyone else who couldn't turn away from that trainwreck of a finish. Not just in the game, but all season long.
