The fallout from the brawl in Coral Gables a week ago is still settling. Fans want the coaches head, media types think the punishment is too lenient from the 'Canes standpoint, and Miami is being played the scapegoat for a fight that was started by hooliganism on FIU's part; but thats another conversation.
The next step in getting back to 'normalcy' is playing a game. And with 12 Hurricane players suspended the Saturday afternoon game at Duke actually meant something for once. The Blue Devils held the 'Canes to 30 yards rushing on 26 carries. Yes, I said 30, and STILL managed to lose the game to a shorthanded Miami bunch.
Now with that all said it should be noted that Miami can STILL play in an ACC title game and win the conference. Would that scenario be enough to save Coker's job? I don't know, but it sure as hell would be interesting to watch.
This season now is what the players make of it. Not the coaches, fans media or anyone else. The Hurricanes have officially hit rock bottom in the Coker era, and now we get to watch them either get up like men, or sit back and let the world beat them down.
